Junk Yard Josie

Now that Miss Josie has become mobile, childproofing has taken on a whole new meaning at our house.  I mean, why sit in the play room and play with the same boring toys you've been playing with for the past 18 months when you can go dig in the dog bowl and throw kibble all over, right?  Activities I took for granted in the past (using the restroom, taking a shower, running downstairs to get more diapers) have now become luxuries that I can only sneak in during nap time (if Merryn cooperates and the stars align).  But you know what they say about necessity being the mother of all invention...

I hereby present to you "The Junk Yard"
Grannie Deb single-handedly restored my sanity by bringing over this modern day playpen that resembles a chain link fence with junk in it that sits in the corner of our bedroom.  Hence, it's been dubbed "the junk yard."

And this little lady has been dubbed "Junk Yard Josie"
She loves her new digs.  It's been decorated with all of the essentials: mirrors, books, and musical toys.  Occasionally you'll even find a special treasure like an old catalog or an empty water bottle in there which really adds authenticity to the junk yard.
It's spacious, comfortable, and most importantly, safe.
And Junk Yard Josie couldn't be happier!

  1. Ahhh...yes. We used one just like it. It was a sanity-saver for sure. There were nay-saywers around but it was wonderful to be able to go to the bathroom and not worry that the trash might end up on the floor, or worse. And TRAVELING...what can I say. What a life saver to travel to my grandmother's house (which was NOT baby proof). Carried that puppy with me and life was a breeze!

  3. Very cool!! I can remember putting the baby in the wind up baby swing and dragging it into the already too small bathroom with me when I wanted to take a shower!
YOUR super sized junk yard could serve double duty - just throw a sleeping bag in there for Daddy when he's "in the doghouse!"
p.s. noticed Josie is sporting a new slicked to one side hairdo - nice!

  5. And you can extend the space! We have 2 that we used to combine into one larger area... until The Skink figured out how to climb over it :( I miss being able to put her in it and go do a few little things by myself.

  6. She is so cute and looks so much older lately! Magazines and water bottles are the best toys aren't they!

  7. And a favorite book at our house "Moo Baa LaLaLa". We actually love anything by Sandra Boynton. Josie is set to have a little party in her new diggs!
