Bad Girl - Another email from Aunt Leanne

Leanne imparts her wisdom on the next generation

One of the most beautiful things about my sister is her innocent candor.  Today, she sent another email to Miss Josie (Catfish with ketchup) .  In true Leanne fashion, no smoke was blown, no words were minced, no details were sugarcoated.  I now present a valuable life lesson issued from experience, aunt to niece: For every action, there is a consequence.

If you get rude and talk back, you will have to miss Special Olympics bowling; but mom will still love you.

This actually takes me back to my childhood when Leanne would misbehave and get sent to her room.  She would beg me to bring her a piece of paper and a pen so she could draft an apology letter to my mom.  It usually went a little something like this: "Dear Mom.  I sorry you got mad at me.  I forgive you.  Out my room please.  Love, Leanne"  Worked like a charm every time!

Josie - I hope you're paying attention.  That's 33 years of experience talking.  Just wait until it's time for her to give you career advice...That's another post for another day!

  11. Pudge and Zippy made me aware of your blog. I've spent my after dinner coffee reading it, smiling quite a bit and enjoying reading! We live in Norway (little line of land next to Sweden - ha!) My daughter with the magic chromosome is 10, her big sister is 12 - and your lines about your big sister just made my heart melt. Thank you so much!! :) Looking forward to future posts.

  15. I am so happy that I discovered your blog! Your family is just beautiful!!!!! As a mom to a "chromosomally enhanced" little guy, your story warms my heart. As a woman who grew up in the 80's, I love the inspiration for your little one's name. Someday my son will learn that his name was at least partially inspired by his mom's fav record of all time...The "Joshua" Tree :).

  19. Oh my goodness. I LOVE it!! I cannot tell you how much it warms my heart to read of you adopting a baby with Down syndrome after having a sister with Ds. I always worry about how my son will view growing up with a sister with Down syndrome (though I know it will make him a better person, and really already has!) I will DEFINETLY be coming back to this blog!!!

  21. I am happy to the point that I found your blog! Your family is simply beautiful!!!!! As a mother to a "chromosomal upgraded" little person, your story warms my heart. As a lady who experienced childhood in the 80's, I cherish the motivation for your little one's name. Some time or another my child will discover that his name was at any rate in part motivated by his mother's fab record of all time...The "Joshua" Tree..!
