The Kind of Photos That Come With the Frame vs. Reality

As soon as we found out that baby #3 would be a girl, my mind started racing with all of the adorable photo opportunities.  Just imagine: three beautiful sisters, perfectly coiffed hair and coordinating ensembles, holding one another in embraces so loving that your heart just melts into a big puddle of sugar and spice and everything nice...

Photos like these would adorn the walls of my home and everyone who saw them would wish that they had grown up with sisters because really, what could be sweeter?
I really thought I had the ultimate formula for photographic perfection:

three adorable girls  +  a closet that makes you wonder if there's anything left on the shelves at Gymboree  =  the kind of photos that come with the picture frame

Then reality hit...

If you were looking for a dream world with glowy photos of beautifully behaved little angels dancing around with smiles so bright it makes you wonder what the heck that mama knows that you don't, well, you've found the wrong blog.  But reality is fun, too!

  1. Haha, I have three girls too, ages 4, 3 and 16months and it is IMPOSSIBLE to get a nice shot of the three of them. Good luck!

  2. LOL, love the captions. Do you know what Dolly Parton dresses are? They are frilly, froofy, southern belle dresses for little girls and infants. I really don't care much for them, but my mom bought my oldest two one when they were 2 and 3 years old. I decided to use them for Easter Sunday. My 3 year old was ticked. I finally decided that my Easter memory pic was going to HAVE to be one where my 2 year old was staring in unbelief as her sister sat next to her - screaming, red faced, and frantic in front of the pulpit. Ugh. The nicest thing in that pic is the Easter lilies! :) We look back now (sisters are 9 and 10) and laugh and laugh. No perfect pics here, either!

  3. I love your blog, your photos, your sense of humor and your family (and the videos!) -- and I hardly even know you! I think that the girls look adorable in the pictures -- and I just bet that you got a few that are perfect. (We have five kids, ages 8-23 and my husband usually takes dozens of each pose because there's always someone who is blinking or has a strange look on their face. :-) God bless you!
