Yesterday we packed up and traveled to my hometown to attend Aunt Leanne's birthday party. Leanne will turn the big 3-5 next week and she opted to invite her closest friends to a pizza party. This intimate little birthday party for Miss Popularity had more attendees than our wedding. Seriously! It's the story of my life. We won't even begin to talk about her 30th birthday party...anyway, out of that entire room full of people, guess who Leanne chose to sit next to...
We arrived a little late so we missed the henna tattoos but Leanne finally got to fulfill her dream of having a "tramp stamp" (In case you missed that post, you can find it here). Leanne actually got two henna tattoos - the Tin Man and a heart. Really edgy, huh?
After the pizza party, we went and visited my friend, Lauren, who has a beautiful little girl and precious six-week-old twins! Of course Leanne bestowed food nicknames on the babies (Broccoli and Squash) and an even more affectionate nickname on Lauren's husband, Jay - "Honey Bunch"! That's right, Leanne decided Lauren's husband is a "hunk" and whether he likes it or not, he is now her new boyfriend.
Afterwards, we headed over to our friend, Michelle's house for a little pool party! Michelle also has a sister with Down syndrome (one of these days I will convince her to be a guest blogger) as well as three adorable kiddos. Leanne has always been a little fearful of the water and she never learned how to swim but she absolutely loves relaxing in the shallow end of the pool. Meanwhile, Michelle's sister, Maria, is an absolute fish! She did several creative jumps off the diving board and swam numerous laps. Josie and Merryn also enjoyed their little dip in the pool which is promising because summer swimming lessons start next week. Unfortunately I didn't get any photos, but it was a fantastic time and we are so grateful to Michelle for the invitation.
We headed back to Mama Hop's house where we enjoyed a delicious prime rib dinner. Josie even ate some prime rib and asparagus. Mama Hop also indulged Josie in her favorite food - cheese - while providing Merryn with an all-you-can-eat Cheerio buffet. Talk about food heaven.
Josie enjoyed tickling the ivories on Mama Hop's beloved baby grand...
...and she loved spending time with Mama Hop's kitty cat. She kept saying "Cat! Meooooow!!!" over and over while pointing out his "head," "ears," and "feet." Thank goodness the cat didn't seem to mind the eager attention of a two-year-old.
After our fantastic feast, Leanne opened her gifts; girlfriend is going to look snazzy in her new clothes. Travis, being the thoughtful chap that he is, even got Leanne a new GREEN robe! It kind of makes you look forward to turning 35, doesn't it?
We were all exhausted after that action-packed day. I wish I would have taken more photos but I was having too much fun to stop and capture every detail with the camera. I did however get one gem; an impromptu dance party between Mama Hop, Leanne, and Josie when Josie's favorite Usher song came on at the pizza place. Shake it, Ladies!
Happy birthday Leanne. Still cracking up on the tramp stamps. Glad it was such a great celebration!
