A Patriotic Holiday Photo Shoot

Determined to have a more successful Independence Day photo shoot than we did last year, we headed outside this evening and gave it the good ole 4th of July try...

Two jet-lagged babies dressed in patriotic apparel - Check!

A red Radio Flyer wagon to complement the white and blue - Check!

95 degree temps with a heat index exceeding 100 - Check!

What could possibly go wrong?
First, we had to get past Josie's obsession with "the sprinkler"...

We relocated to Grammie Deb's porch because she has all the festive decor...then there was the whole canopy debacle...

An 11-month-old with a makeshift spear within inches of her cranky older sister - not a good idea...time to ditch the canopy!

And then there was Mom's attempt at "photoshopping" two pictures to make the perfect photo.  Note to self:  Having two cute kids, a camera, and an outdated version of Microsoft Paint does not make me a graphic designer.  Leave Photoshopping to the professionals.

Happy Independence Day from Merryn, Josie, and Josie's shoe!

Tune in to the next episode of CCE, where we will recap our recent visit to YaYa and Papa's house!

I just found your blog and it's wonderful! My 14 month old son Max has Down syndrome and he has an older brother. Seeing your relationship with your sister is really comforting as I think about the future for my kids. Your post today just cracked me up! Your sense of humor is so great! I didn't even notice the shoe until you pointed it out because I was so happy that you got a good picture! They are so cute!
