Mental Health Week: Day 3

*Note: this post was drafted yesterday but thanks to the annoying new interface that Blogger is forcing me to use, it could not be published until today.  Grrr!!!

Mental Health Week: Day 3

I tried to submit my resignation again.  It had to deal with Josie and a blow out again.  It fell on deaf ears again

Merryn's diaper failed her overnight so I threw her and Josie into the tub first thing in the morning.  After that, we were off to a good start.  I made breakfast, did a load of laundry, emptied the dishwasher...and then I walked into the playroom to find Josie's diaper had failed her.  There was poop EVERYWHERE - on her legs, feet, arms, hands, face, and all over the carpet.  I wanted to cry.

After giving Josie her second bath of the day, bleaching down the bathroom, and cleaning the carpet, I drafted my resignation email and sent it to my beloved husband.  His response:

***Crickets***

Turns out Mental Health Week does not always translate into round-the-clock fun and leisure.  Welcome to motherhood, right?

In keeping up with the Mental Health Week funky hair tradition, Josie sported three braids today:

Apparently undressing her sister so that Josie could work on her self-dressing skills has also become a Mental Health Week tradition:
I realize Merryn's "outfit" is a little unique.  Travis even made some comment about her jazzercise class - but a onesie and leggings looks so cute on her!  And we had nowhere to be...

Things started looking up after nap.  The girls share a room and as soon as Merryn opens her eyes, she wanders down to the side of her crib closest to Josie's, reaches out her hand and says, "DoDo...DoDo..." until JoJo reciprocates.
Josie must have woken up on the right side of the bed today because not only did she reach out to Merryn but she also graciously offered to let Merryn pet her beloved chicken!  What a sight to behold - that chicken is sacred!!!

After that we cruised on outside where we were greeted by perfect 77 degree weather.  Since we weren't rushing to get to our next therapy appointment, we could bask in the gorgeous sunshine, while enjoying the feel of the wind in our hair and the grass between our toes.
It was heaven!

That's about when I decided to withdraw my resignation and stick with this stay-at-home mom gig for the time being.  It's not so bad after all :-)

  3. There is something magical about the sharing a room. My boys share and tonight they were chatting away and the older one was singing to the baby (the fact that I could hear it from one end of the house to the other meant it wasn't soothing).
The jazzercise outfit is purely delicious.

  4. That sure brought back memories. One of my sons would wait until bath and bedtime to poop. Then he learned to take his diaper off. So use your imagination to what happened next. That boy hated clothes. he would strip down every time I turned my back. I soon learned to duct tape those diapers after I put a clean one on. At least now days they have cute duct tape! :)
